A New Manifesto

Merry Marry⁣ ⁣ We were supposed to get married this year with our friends and family in attendance but unfortunately, it didn’t happen the way had anticipated. As disappointed we were, we’re grateful to have this one moment that was ours.⁣ ⁣ Soon after my mom had a stroke and we were told she’d never walk again amongst many other heavy things. This year has proven to be incredibly difficult and trying but at the end of the day we’re grateful for each other and the community we have.⁣ ⁣ As 2020 comes to close, we want to encourage everyone to hold and cherish your loved ones as they can be taken away at any moment. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

It’s been a while. A long while.

A lot of stuff has happened as time has gone by. Sorta, kinda. I work, I sleep, I eat, I repeat. C’est la vie. 

I’ve decided to adopt the work fast and live slow mentality. I just kinda want to work with cool people and make things that matter ultimately. Work as quickly as possible and spend time with people that matter the most to me. Hustle is fine and cool and all, but hopefully if you’ve ever met me–that’s not what I’m about.

At the end of the day, this design stuff is just a job. It’s a part of me, but not all of me. I think all these theories about creativity and art are just extensions to me living my life. I think the amazing thing about art is that it’s subjective and defined by experience. I don’t have to vie for people’s attention because everyone is different and I’m different, and that’s okay.

I’m not for everyone and not everyone’s for me. I think once I got that out of my head, I realized that I can be free from restriction and this comparison culture that everyone is raving on about. I can be unapologetically myself. I think that’s important to finding yourself in the world as a human, an artist, and a creative. There’s enough of everyone else out there and not you, so be the best you that you can be.

I’ve been learning about self-confidence and valuing myself. I’m a terribly insecure person, so it’s been a tedious process. But I’ve learned that I can do what what I do well and just own it and that’s completely fine. I don’t need to be worthy of people’s time; I don’t need to earn people’s approval. By just being myself, I can be the best creative I can be because I’m unashamedly embracing my own thoughts and creativity and creating something entirely original due to my experience.

I’ve rebranded myself to be an open platform. I consider myself a visual designer because I’m a sucker for aesthetics. I don’t just make logos and posters and all that jazz; yes, I do those things, but I’m just a person who has vision and the ability to create those ways to make that vision come to life. I'm just me.
